How to Remove Image Background in Word?
Did you know that you can easily remove image background in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint?
Yes, background removal is not a rocket science anymore that can be done only with Photoshop. You can actually remove image background even in Excel 2010, Word 2010 and PowerPoint 2010 or later. Ok, you won’t get a high-resolution quality file, but you will get a result good enough for a small digital banner or a presentation.
Let’s see an example in Word.
Just insert your picture and click on it twice. In the right upper corner, choose Remove Background.
Everything marked with magenta is what Background Removal has marked as the background. The normally colored portions are foreground and will be kept. To further refine what objects you want to keep and what background you want to remove, adjust the shape and size of the marquee. The marquee must contain everything you want to keep. Let’s size it so that it is just slightly bigger than the horse.
Background removal automatically figures out what you want to remove and selects the horse, which results in everything but the horse being removed.
Of course, there will always be some cases where simply adjusting the marquee can’t detect what you want to keep and what should be removed. If this is the case, just select the green button „Mark Areas to Keep” and select everything you want to keep in your picture and vice versa – with the red „Mark Areas to Remove”, select everything you want to be removed from your picture. If you make a mistake, just press „Delete Mark” and select the marks you want to delete. When you are satisfied with the result, press „Keep Changes” and enjoy your new picture.
If you want to save your new picture with a transparent background, click on it with the right button of your mouse and select „Save as Picture”. Choose „Portable Network Graphics” or PNG as the new file type and save it. Now you will be able to use this image with the transparent background in any software or image-making tool.
Keep in mind that the better the quality and higher resolution files you are using, the better quality results you are going to get.
Similarly, you can remove image background in PowerPoint 2010 and even in Excel 2010.
